Today friends, let’s just have fun, dream and search for beauty. What better place to start than at Bergdorf Goodman. Change is rapid in New York. Complete buildings are dismantled and new buildings spring up in their place. The skyline of Manhattan is unrecognizable to the skyline of my youth. Fortunately, Bergdorf Goodman has remained a constant on 5th Avenue between 57th and 58th Street since 1928. The landmarked building was constructed specifically for the store. The classical design and marble facade accentuate the human scale of its nine story structure.
I’ve already posted on the Christmas windows which you can see here. Let’s jump right in. I headed straight for the escalator, which deposits you right up to the shoe department on two. I wanted to see if the unsightly, yet tempting racks of sale shoes were up; they were. It’s usually an odd mix of fully impractical shoes that didn’t sell at full price for good reason, but you never know. Nothing I just had to have, but did admire this beautiful pair of Chloe shoes.
