Winter is still going strong here, but my mind is firmly on Spring, particularly when freezing gives way to chilly. I can’t wait to put away my heavy winter wear in favor of transitional jackets. The only problem is I find this a difficult category to fill. My perfect transition jacket is roomy enough to accommodate layers underneath but can also work over a thin tee shirt. It should go from casual to more dressed up, depending on what it’s paired with. Last, it has to make a statement on its own. A great jacket can make the outfit if it has design interest, the right proportions and is made with good materials.
I did a deep dive in search of great jackets. Prada has an amazing selection, but the prices are crazy high. Fortunately, there are plenty of companies making interesting clothes at more reasonable prices. However, you have to sift through quite a lot to find the treasures. Here’s what I unearthed.
I love the look of this Prada anorak paired with a matching skirt. Too bad I’m priced out of that. Leave it to COS to offer an interesting alternative. I would absolutely wear this with a midi skirt and so much more. I’m intrigued by the idea of dressing up a sporty piece for a new look, though it would look equally fun with track pants and sneakers. The lightweight wool makes it perfect for winter into spring. Forty percent off doesn’t hurt either.
Leather is fabulous for transition, it adds importance to whatever you’re wearing. The leather of the Nour Hammour jacket is super soft, and I love the brown, which goes with every color. It’s an investment piece to love forever. At the top right is a beauty from Max Mara Weekend. The price is less than you would guess, with an extra 15% off at checkout for a limited time. I love the color and the shape of this leather shirt jacket from Sézane.
If you want to splurge, go for this Nili Lotan suede fringed jacket. There are several versions of this classic style out there, but this is, hands down, the best of them. It’s selling out all over, but I found a small one here. The rest are from Sézane; the top right gives you the ease of a denim jacket, though much more refined in suede. I’m crazy about the ochre color of the bottom right jacket. It would look great paired with navy or grey. At right is another winner, this one with deep front pockets. This suede jacket from Dôen didn’t make it on the board (my bad), but it deserves a look.
I adore a good shirt jacket, it’s the easy-going cousin to the blazer. The top left is from COS, made of cotton to bring you right into warmer weather but can also handle heavy layers while it’s still cold. The flared shape and contrast pockets make this herringbone-patterned jacket special. The shirt jacket at the bottom left is more constructed than it looks, with side seam pockets and full lining.
This denim safari jacket has a lot of style. I would also wear it straight with the belt tied at the back. Studio Nicholson tweaked the details and proportions of a classic denim jacket, then made it in black with gold stitching, perfect!
To wrap it up I’ll leave you with great deals on versatile jackets to get you over the hump to spring. At the top left, this Proenza Schouler jacket has great details and is drastically marked down. The generous cut in camel double-face makes this the perfect transition jacket to have forever, over 50% off. I’ve recommended this pea coat before, and I’m happy to report it’s now on sale. I love the simplicity and melange neutral of this double-faced jacket. No doubt you would wear the hell out of this.
That’s all for now. Let’s hope we’re all shedding layers soon, and for my readers in warmer climates, let me know what you’re on the lookout for.

I loved your selection as usual! You make me click on all the links!!
I’ve had my black leather blazer for years and it works well for me as a winter jacket most years. This one being the exception as our winter weather was extreme.
I love the navy pea coat. I do love navy blue. Be well my friend, see you soon!
