For the past two falls I’ve had knee high boots on my mind. Maybe it's because I have this persistent image of Charlotte Rampling in a midi skirt with boots and a sleek shoulder bag circa 1970s. I’m not sure if this is a real or imagined image. Most likely it’s a compilation image constructed in my brain. Whatever the case, me thinks I need to get me some boots!
Now me also thinks I’ve got an apartment to decorate and have to deploy my fall fashion dollars wisely. We all know that bags and boots are by nature budget busters so I set out to find what I need, and more importantly want, without breaking the bank. To think, for the price of a pair of The Row boots and a bag I could easily buy a custom sofa. Just saying.
I purged so many things from all the moves I made in the past five years I’m without any high boots. It’s not something I was wearing. What I imagine works best with skirts and dresses and I’m much more of a pants person. Though I feel a seismic shift happening. This would add some variety to my wardrobe and also allow me to wear some of the purge surviving skirts I love and haven’t touched in a while.
The other fall item I’m on the lookout for is a sleek shoulder bag. While researching for the Jackie O story, I was struck by how chic her slim shoulder bags were. I’m drawn to their unobtrusive nature, nestled nicely between the arm and body. They also play into that seventies narrative and pair nicely with boots. Fall vision coming together!
I’m very pleased with my finds. The only problem is I dug up too many choices and now can’t make up my mind. Take a look for yourself. If you’re in the market for either it’s worth your while
