The luxury loungewear brand, For Restless Sleepers, hit my radar when I wrote about them in November of 2016. Since then, I’ve followed them closely and in the process became obsessed with the style of the brand’s founder and designer, Francesca Ruffini. The Italian word, sprezzatura, translates to a studied style that appears as effortless and nonchalant. Leave it to the Italians to have a word for this, but it is the best way to describe the style of For Restless Sleepers and Francesca Ruffini.

What Looks Good is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

To mark the 10 year anniversary of F.R.S. (also her initials), Ms Ruffini gathered thirty of her personal wardrobe favorites and reissued them in a strict color palette of red and white. The results are a tight collection of timeless, wearable pieces oozing with sprezzatura in the most elegant sense of the word.

Francesca Ruffini has been devoted to loungewear since she was a child. Who better than her to liberate pajamas from the boudoir? Her elegance and refined taste are evident in her exquisite home overlooking Lake Como where the F.R.S. look books are photographed. She works closely with the world famous mills in the region to develop her intricately printed silks. In the ten years since the launch of F.R.S., the original concept for the collection has evolved with commendable clarity of purpose; creating comfortable, elegant clothes with a loungewear ethos.

Casual elegance best describes Ms Ruffini’s personal style. Her codes include the ever-present long gold chains for day and evening, neatly pulled back hair, minimal makeup and a warm smile.  She’s mastered the art of never looking overdone but impossible to overlook.

The clothing is expensive but I can vouch for the quality. The first piece I bought from an early collection was a silk twill, foulard pant. I’ve worn them so much that judging by cost per use they were a bargain. F.R.S. pieces add what I call spice to your wardrobe allowing you to build interesting outfits for day and evening.

With that in mind, I’ve made an edit which includes great deals to make it easy for you to explore this brand. This is investment dressing and wardrobe building at its best.
