Hello friends,
There are only three weeks to go before I’m off to Spain for two months, first to Madrid and then to the Costa Del Sol. If any of you are from Spain or you happen to know a lot about Spain, please share with me any tips for stores, designers, and places to go. I fell in love with Spain five years ago when I visited my daughter during her semester abroad in Granada. My visit coincided with Holy Week, which in Granada is a big deal. It’s an experience I highly recommend. Since then, I’ve been back twice, visiting the major cities and spending a glorious week in Mallorca.
Regarding style, I found the general dress code in Spain to be a desirable mix of casual yet stylish, never sloppy. There is a lot of action en las calles, in the streets, with vibrant cafés and tapas bars. Comfort and mobility are key, but hey, you’re in Europe you gotta be chic. Someone I’ve been following on IG forever who always gets it right is Patrizia Casarini @patzhunter. She’s a Spanish interior designer with great style. It doesn’t hurt that she’s tall and thin, but she knows how to werk it!

I haven’t been able to find the right kind of wardrobe spice here, so I’ll leave that for when I get there. That’s half the fun: exploring new shopping territory IRL. But as I said in last week’s post, getting my basics in order will ensure I have plenty of options. Speaking of basics, J Crew and Mango are offering great deals on summer basics, like tees and white shirts. I picked up another white shirt here, and I was thrilled to find this Breton striped tee in black and white. I love the proportions and the three-quarter sleeves. I couldn’t resist these pajamas, also on sale.
