Hi Friends,
Today, I’m trying something different with a mixed bag post. As paid subscribers to What Looks Good, I’m grateful for your support, and I’m always open to your suggestions to better serve your needs. I would love to hear if you like mixed bag posts, or any suggestions on the kind of stories you find most useful/ interesting/ entertaining. That said, here’s my pre-Memorial Day mixed bag post. The Swimsuit Edit
Memorial Day Weekend is upon us, which can mean only one thing: time to bear the bod in a swimsuit. I used to welcome this, and still consider summer my favorite season, though my delight in donning a swimsuit has waned; I won’t let that dampen my love of summer. Embrace it as I say. To do that, I need swimsuits that cover enough of the bits that should not see the light of day, mainly my bum and a certain level of modesty about the bust. For those of you who share my trepidation in baring it all, here are my picks for more wearer-friendly swimsuits without going granny.
You can’t beat Eres for quality and fit. Love these four classic shapes in my favorite black or white, and doesn’t hurt that they’re on sale. V tank in white, Classic tank in black, bandeau in black and white, and thin strap tank in white and black.
More wearer-friendly shapes: This V tank has adjustable straps and full bum coverage!!! I love the mint color and striped ring detail of this halter, and it’s on sale. This bandeau has a textured fabric with oomph.
I find this cut of leg infinitely more flattering on. Though hard to find, here are two great choices: left, from Tôteme, and right, Milissa Odabash.
Printed swimsuits, I don’t recommend, but an interesting color is always welcome. I love the rusty-rose and sage color in what J. Crew calls their Classic Sculpt fabric, designed to hold you in and lift you. Sounds good to me. Now on sale, though some items are not returnable. The copper of this Eres tank would look great with a golden tan.
If I could find a two-piece that fit and flattered, I would be thrilled. This has potential. The top is offered in a D-cup, and the bottom has the leg cut I adore. Also, do look a Matteau’s swim collection, they offer great styles for many body types.
