Hi friends,

Many of you may remember my post from last August titled “ When Bad Sh*t Happens”. In it, I described the deluge that occurred in my kitchen, setting off an unexpected kitchen renovation. For months now, you’ve been patiently reading about it with scant pictures and details; now the big reveal is here. So sit back, put fashion on the back burner, and hear the tale of my kitchen, with pictures, resources (not in any way sponsored), and the whole damn process.

What Looks Good is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

I acted as my own kitchen designer and project manager, which is the way I like to roll. Interior design and fashion design have much in common: color, materials, function, and, most importantly, the ability to convey the right mood or feeling, for the occupant of the room or outfit. They are all pieces of the puzzle that must fulfill the intended practical application.

I was very slow out of the gate. I’ve done one gut kitchen renovation before, and knew the minutiae involved. Even if this renovation was just a repair and replace, it is an opportunity to do it better while keeping the existing footprint.

Enough chatter, let’s look at pictures, and I’ll talk you through them.
