Love this! Prada has such a deep well at resale to dip into. My story is different but similar. In the 90s I travelled often to Milan and at the time the dollar was strong against the lira, this is pre Euro. Prada was downright affordable and I would buy something every trip. Now I go into the store to dream ! Prices are so high. Resale offers things I remember and loved, like you, at a reasonable price. It’s amazing and I love the hunt. Prada clothes and accessories never look dated either. Maybe it’s because there is not a revolving door of designers.

I was never able to afford Prada in the

90s (story below) and certainly not now. But I have found several pieces from the TRR that I love and wear. Two straight and simple black pants and two wool vnecks. Clean designs with forever-wearability. All items were less than $40 each!

In the late 90s I lived across the street from a shopping Mecca and spent a lot of time browsing the aisles. I spotted the Prada nappa gaufre - the black bag with the sort of folded pleats - oh my gosh! It was my version of dream luxury. I think it was $2500 or something ridiculous. But I visited that bag often!

Cue late 2024 when I spotted it on a resale site. Oh the memories and the LONGING!! I snapped that baby up so fast. I LOVED it in 1998 and I LOVE it today. And yes , I WEAR it!! ❤️

I still have my stacked platform from Miu Miu 1997 collection. I have several pairs and I was so proud to wear them ba k in the time. I still keep them even though I no longer wear such shoes because they are like works of art to me. Maybe I could wear them with socks to create a new look in my wardrobe...so chic back then and now..

Since I’ve to have Prada clothes, dresses, skirts and coats in size IT 48 or even IT50, most of them are unavailable to me. Even on the day of the new release, larger sizes are simply not available. It is easier to buy knitwear. In March I hunted down a Miu Miu pleated skirt in size 50 and I already love it! Since I only wear Loewe and Fendi handbags, I have Prada shoes, which are more easily available in different sizes and are also very comfortable. I am currently waiting for the delivery of these new brown sandals. In two weeks I will be in Milan, I will check what they have there, finally a flagship store! You have written a wonderful series about Prada and Miuccia. This woman is now a source of inspiration for me. I am waiting for your next writing 🫶💖

Hi Pola! How frustrating to not have your size available. Hopefully in Milan at the Prada store they can help you. I loved doing this series on Miuccia Prada. She’s an inspiration. We need more women like her in fashion who have not only vision but power as well to execute that vision. I find that now designer houses are all about branding and the actual customer is all but forgotten. You’re right though these companies need to address the problem of limited size availability. In the meantime I’ll keep my eyes out for Sz 50 and let you know if I see something!
