Can relate to this - we were also in Spain in the blackout, but without any gas grill, we ‘survived’ on cold food - gazpacho no hardship! Nothing to do but chill by the pool. Next day we rushed to purchase a battery radio, charging pack for the phones and draw out some euros. First world problems ….

When I had my fortieth birthday, some decades ago, I remember feeling a bit low about it. More than that I remember what my father said. " Forty! Forty! What are you going on about. We all want to be forty!" I'm sure there are plenty of your followers out there even now thinking, 65 ! Yes I remember being 65. It's still a thing for women more than for men I think. Hi Jan, I had a similar feeling when I hit forty. The last birthday I fully embraced was thirty. I felt on top of the world, I was in love, had a great job, and was travelling a lot. The biggest difference for me now is the feeling that there is more behind me than ahead of me, but I now realize that is wasted energy; every day is a gift, embrace it, and forget about age. Thanks for your wise words!
