Hi Patti, Thanks for your comment and for reading! The Wolford hose in the picture have no support. The brand is known for the silky look and sheerness and like the hose of old are quite fragile. This was the brand we always used for fashion shows. It's been so long since I wore hose as well that I don't even know where else to go. I'll keep my eye out out and post about it if something comes up.

I haven't worn hose in years but at 66 I must start up again. My legs are still in great shape but my skin is less than desirable - does the hose in the photo have any sort of support?

I found some that felt great - the Hooter's girls wore them; but I really loved the look of those in the photon would like to try them if they aren't too flimsy.

Hi Caroline, Thank you for reading and commenting. I feel that the fashion industry has forgotten the amazing working women who are out there kiling it in male dominated fields and doing it with style and grace. My hope it to inspire them and give practical advice while having some fun.

PS, I loved the The Great Fall, it's a wonderful book for an inside look at a heady time in fashion. I'll be sure to check out your site as well.

Love this first post! As someone who works for a fortune 20 corporation - many of the clothing I see does not work for me. You listed some great muses and I loved learning about Yves and Karl’s muses from reading “the great fall” - I also write for personal style though mine is more lessons and more philosophy and documenting my own exploration.

Jolain! The tagline alone makes you a goddess! Really this is the fashion newsletter we all need. Substack is now rife with posts that are merely products. You are filling void and are now on my must read list. Congratulations!

I agree. I really struggle when I open my Substack app only to find lots of newsletters telling me what to buy. If I wanted that, I would still be on Instagram!
