Hi Gita, It's a tough decision. We'll see how Eric is a few months down the road.

Gosh. I’ve had a bunion for years and I also love shoes, most of which I can no longer wear. I’m generally in Fitflops now, which are better than they were but I’d love to wear my Choos again. This is much food for thought. Thank you for sharing.

Bunions are no joke! Had one taken off my right foot in ‘95. Recovery was 9 weeks! Naturally, there were complications. That’s the only reason I never took care of the left foot.

Thanks to this brave guy for his story. I have sidelined my manolo blaniks for tennis shoes and keds slip ons-- since in person work and dressing up no longer typical. Please update and wishing this fellow the best recovery.

Hi Deborah, I also have some prize shoes that I can't wear anymore, though recently a pair of boots went back in circulation after having the shoemaker stretch them. I'll keep you posted on Eric's recovery!

Looking forward to see what shoes Eric chooses. Dare I say a 'comfort' shoe review would be a great read?

Oh believe me he has a lot to choose from already! Will keep you posted. Speaking of comfort shoes, I covered that in Breaking With Sneakers.

Hooray for Eric! I hope you will be back in your beautiful wingtips again soon!💕 I have a teeny bunion on my left foot and immediately killed most of my high heels (so sad!).

Be good to your feet, people!

Bunions are definitely affecting my shoe choices these days, but my sister had one removed a year and a half ago, and her mobility was impaired for a long time. Plus, she started wearing Crocs as they were the only thing that didn't seem to rub, and SHE'S STILL WEARING THEM!

I'm very afraid.

Glad to hear you're on the way to recovery. I've been fortunate so far to escape bunions. I did however experience a great deal of pain on one foot. I thought I'd probably strained my foot. A visit to a podiatrist confirmed that one foot was flat. I'd had supports in my shoes as a youngster, a million years ago, for flat feet, and thought it had been fixed. I had some custom made shoe inserts made and these make a huge difference to my life , no more pain. Many shoe manufacturers now make shoes with inner soles that can be easily removed so that you could replace it with your custom made version. I was a teenager in the late '60s early '70s when high heels weren't the thing to wear and by the time they came round again I wasn't into that style. My favourite footwear are sandals or boots so I don't miss skinny shoes or killer heels.
