Thank you for more beautiful ideas. I especially love the softness and subtlety of the Bottega colours. They remind me of Marni under its original designer. A great entry point for the colour shy!

As a passionate colorist, this speaks to me on so many levels! Thank you for all of the wonderful color mixing inspiration! I have been in a neutral haze mostly because it is so easy to pack with neutrals! I need a reminder of how much I need color in my life especially, during the winter months. xoxoxo

Thanks so much, Windy! Stay tuned I'll be posting about how to gradually add color back to our wardrobes. I think many of us have gone mainly neutral, myself included, for the reasons you mentioned. Color is uplifting and I'm ready for it!

Did you see the piece on Paul Smith on CBS Sunday Morning today? It was fun to get a glimpse into his sources of inspiration. And his use of color seems right in line with your theme!

No, I missed that but I love Paul Smith. He's a master of color, I'll try to dig it up online. Thanks!!

Right when I decide to just embrace black and get over it, I’m reading your strong lean towards adding color. Black is just so easy. Especially in Winter (I live in Northern California so I know that may seem like a funny comment to a New Yorker). Color is much harder IMO. Easy to get tires of unless it is super complexion/hair enhancing.

Hi Cathy, I hear you, black is so much easier and I've been leaning heavily on it myself these past few years. Stay tuned, I'll be posting how to add color in small doses and see where it goes. Thankfully, black goes with practically all colors!

I will stay tuned. I am enjoying your posts. Another color pet peeve of mine: so much beige, cream, white out there. Colors I just don't feel good in. Inevitably I will buy a cream or beige sweater and it will languish in my closet. So, what do I do...buy more black! I guess for brands, those colors are safe...colors can end up in the sale bin.

Jolain, this article is so great. I'm combing my closet for some fun color combinations. We've had a cold winter and I'm looking forward to dressing in some color before Spring arrives.
