Happy day after Thanksgiving, otherwise known as Black Friday. I hope you had a fantastic holiday with the people you love.
I’m doing my best to avoid all the frenzy involved with sale shopping though I admit it’s hard to avoid. Nevertheless, I did buy a vacuum before I even got out of bed this morning.
The one sale I have been anticipating though is at COS. Of all the recommendations I’ve made this fall, Cos by far is the leader. They’ve upped their fabric quality and the styles for fall were particularly strong. Even at full price I feel you get a tremendous value for clothes that fit into my ethos of buying for the long haul while building a functional wardrobe.
As I perused their sale for myself it dawned on me that I should share with you what recommendations I’ve made in past posts that are still available. Some of my most popular past posts leaned heavy into COS.
One of my strongest posts, “Why I’m Not Obsessed With The Row" compared the above skirt to a skirt from The Row. It also appeared in “New Ways To Style What You Have”. I tried it on myself before recommending it and I can attest to the fact it looks good on normal people; not just models and is beautifully made.
In “Dressing Room Confidential” I spent a couple hours in COS trying on things, then wrote about it. Here are my favorite picks from that outing. The cape is one of those versatile pieces that will get you through transitional seasons in style. It goes with so much and it always makes an outfit chicer. I absolutely loved the fringed skirt on. The woolen fabric makes it a true fall/ winter piece that would look great with boots. They engineered it well so it doesn’t open too much, as many wrap skirts do and the fringe at the bottom gives great movement when you walk. The pea coat is another treasure. In person it looks much more expensive than it is. It’s a true outerwear piece made in a heavy wool. As I said in the original post, it gave me major Bottega Veneta vibes. The cashmere scarf is a no brainer (and a great $100 gift). It’s nice and long which I’m feeling for now and the 60/40 wool cashmere blend reads more cashmere than wool.
Another popular post was “Cracking The Functional Wardrobe Code” where this green, fine gauge merino turtleneck was featured in five out of eight outfits. I have it in black and also recommended it in “New Ways To Style What You Have”. It comes in handy as a layering piece because it’s super lightweight and tight to the body, though for me it’s a bit too sheer to wear on its own. For night I love it with a pretty bra worn under a jacket. I don’t know how this leopard version got past me. I love it to liven up an all black outfit as above.
In “Sale Shopping With Intention”, rule number 2 is stock up on basics. With that in mind here’s my roundup of great basics you can always use.
Tees
Cos gets the proportions right for tees, which makes all the difference, and the fabric is a high quality cotton. I love the cut of this ¾ sleeve bateau in red stripe. I’ll stock up on their tanks which I wear under my sweaters in winter. The shape of this shrunken tee works well over high-wasted pants. And you can never have enough striped tees particularly in black and white. They make great layering pieces as demonstrated in “Styling Hacks From The Ralph Lauren Show”
Cotton Shirts
I always like to have a white tuxedo shirt on hand, it’s a seasonless staple. The shape of this blue cotton shirt strikes the right balance of big but not too oversized, also in white.
Accessories
Scarves for me have to be generous in size, like the above in wool and cashmere. I’m partial to the bordeaux, but nothing wrong with this grey as well (another great $100 gift). This is the year I’m finally getting a balaclava. When it’s cold I’m the type who must have a hat on. This balaclava is a much chicer alternative to a knit cap. How did I miss these shoes? They should have been included in my Breaking With Sneakers post. I’ve been looking for a masculine shoe with a thick rubber sole. I love that these are a in a wallabee shape, which looks good again.
That’s it my friends. I’m taking the rest of the weekend off and will be back next week. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and try to take a breath before the Christmas rush is in full swing. As always I love hearing from you and I’m sincerely thankful for your support and community!

Yes!!! Cos has had a great fall this year and I believe they have upped their fabric game. The styling and value is fantastic. You can definitely get The Row look.
you forgot about the best part of COS...their pant selection and their cashmere sweaters. The really do a good job borrowing from The Row..I live in my https://www.cos.com/fr-fr/women/womenswear/trousers/barrel-leg/product/merino-wool-barrel-leg-trousers-navy-1259157001
